RETURNING IN 2024
Those who dare to come back again and again...
Nick Fletcher
Founder of BFOP & Sports photographer
Some call him the Godfather of BFOP but lets give credit where credit is due, this man gave BFOP life way back in 2017 and so Mother BFOP is probably a much more fitting name.
Nick is principally responsible for looking stressed and herding participants in the right direction whilst providing inspiring pep-talks to the BFOP instructor team. When Nick isn’t running festivals he’s out in the wild either photographing motorbikes or falling off them. If you see him at the brewery then he will impart his entire photographic knowledge for the price of a pint of beer. He’s a true inspiration and runs workshops not to be missed!
Matt Krumins
Director of BFOP & Wildlife/Nature photographer
Matt Krumins’ nature and wildlife photography dives into the depths of the ocean, the remote corners of natural landscapes, and the heights of the sky. His goal is to share the more hidden side of the world, encouraging others to get out there and experience the lesser seen parts of our planet. Over his 20 year career his achievements include photographic ambassadorships presenting across the Asia pacific region, collaboration with government tourism bodies as both a photographer and trainer, as well as taking out the 2022 Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year award in the monochrome category. Since 2016, he has been imparting his photography knowledge and passion through photography workshops held both locally and internationally. His commitment to teaching is evident in the glowing feedback from participants, as he simplifies photography concepts for all levels of photographers.
Kym Vulling
Visual Artist & Portrait Photographer
Events Photographer and Visual Artist Kym Vulling has embraced her love of sensual connection and mixed media with a series of award-winning creative projects.
With a passion for capturing the most intimate of moments, Kym creates decadent, respectful imagery that embraces the full spectrum of sexuality and gender. Her belief that sexuality and identity should be celebrated rather than hidden inspired her to create artworks that elevate the erotic image. Through exploring sensuality in various forms, her projects delve into one of the more vulnerable and raw representations of human connection.
Kym is also the Director of Refocus Retreat – a 4-day 3-night retreat and conference for women in photography, which will be celebrating its 6th retreat in August 2023.
Denis Smith
Light Painter
Denis Smith takes his light painting seriously, but not too seriously. He believes that this incredible form of photography can expand the mind, and loosen things up. Rule of thirds? How about the rule of fun! Denis has taken his passion for learning online creating an epic Youtube channel full of tips for beginners or light painting legends. Love, light and laughs are the mantra.
Cam Blake
Landscape Photography
Cam is our tame Taswegian. We have even had him house trained just for BFOP. He is a spectacularly accomplished landscape photographer and runs high end workshops around Australia. He also has a style we love, with longer lenses, a super eye for tone and texture, and restraint on that saturation slider….mmm lovely.
If you want to introduce a bit of subtly to your landscape photography Cam is your man! What’s more he knows Bright really well and runs a fabulous course here every year.
Craig Wetjen
Environmental Portraiture photographer & photography educator
Anyone who’s met Craig knows he is one of the most decent humans to walk this planet. If your zest for life if flagging just get a bit of Craig’s irresistible optimism.
He’s spent 36 years in the industry and been successful as a commercial, portraiture, wedding and even scientific photography, he’s even photographed for NASA! Craig doesn’t stop there though, he’s perhaps best known locally for his TV fame after publishing the Best Seller “Men and their Sheds”.
He’s an educator, mentor and advocate for professional practice within the industry for 22 year in Australia and perhaps to us most importantly a mental health advocate who brings the community together through his Photography Walks for Wellbeing group!
Tom Putt
Landscape & Aerial Photographer
FOR THE PAST 20 YEARS I’VE BEEN FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO FOLLOW MY PASSION – FINE ART LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY.
Driven by my desire to showcase the beauty of the landscape, I spend many months of every year creating new photographs for upcoming limited and open edition prints and book projects.
I first fell in love with photography at the age of 13. Following my love of ornithology, I photographed birds. Once leaving university, I pursued a career in sports photography where I covered over 300 events across Australia and the world, including the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
In 1997, I did my first serious landscape shoot, walking the Overland Track in Tasmania. Inspired by the likes of Ken Duncan and Peter Lik, I pursued my landscape photography at every opportunity. Borrowing then eventually buying my own panoramic film camera, I was obsessed with capturing the beauty of the Australia landscape in the best way possible. The large 6x17cms produced far superior prints to the 35mm counterpart.
In 2009 I published my first landscape books on Cradle Mountain, The Milford Track and the Routeburn Tracks in New Zealand. In 2018, I fulfilled my dream of having my own gallery, opening in Main Street, Mornington, Victoria.
For the past 25 years, I’ve had the privilege to call the Australian wilderness my office. For me, there’s nothing more exhilarating than being surrounded by this serenity. Whether it be standing on top of a mountain, or wandering along an ancient dry creek bed, my heart and soul always feels at home amongst these landscapes.
My drive is to showcase the immense beauty and variety of Australia by bringing his art into every home and office. In doing so, I hope to highlight the importance of protecting what we are so lucky to call our home. And for my artwork to bring people together; to get them talking to one another, challenging their visual perceptions and levels of interpretation, on a deeper and more spiritual level.
Louise Sedgman
Equine Portrait Artist and Educator
For me, it’s not just about taking pictures—it’s about capturing the meaningful and often spiritual relationship between horses and their people. As a passionate equine and pet portrait artist and photography tutor, I like to bring a unique blend of artistic vision and heartfelt connection to my portrait work and encourage others to do the same on their journey with photography.
Behind every photograph lies a story—a shared journey of trust, love, and mutual respect that deserves to be preserved in a timeless and beautiful way. It’s about capturing the stories that unfold in the bond between humans and their animal companions, creating lasting memories that connect with emotion and authenticity and teaching others how to do that as well.
After photographing horses for over 20 years, I love seeing beyond the surface, capturing the moments of pure joy, quiet reflection, connection and everything in between.
As a photography tutor, I am dedicated to sharing my knowledge and passion with others. I believe in empowering aspiring photographers to find their own voice and style. Through my workshops, masterclasses and one-on-one sessions across Victoria, my aim is to inspire others to see the world through a different, more creative lens. Encouraging them to explore the profound connections that make portrait photography so special.
Anne Scott-Virtue
Wedding & Elopement Photographer
Hi, I’m Anne, the heart and lens behind White Shutter Photography. I was born and raised in Germany and have called Australia home for the past 18 years. What drives me isn’t just the aesthetics of a wedding; it’s also the people and their stories. My approach to wedding photography is rooted in capturing natural, romantic, and soulful moments that reflect the unique stories of each couple.
Based in Melbourne, Australia, I extend my passion for photography globally, documenting love stories across South East Asia and Europe every year. I believe in an organic approach, valuing genuine emotions and the intricate details that make each wedding day memorable and unique.
When I’m not behind the lens, you can find me at home in the beautiful Macedon Ranges with my daughter River and our many furry and feathered friends. We live on an equestrian property where I do my best to grow veggies (with varying levels of success) and try to convince our reluctant chickens to lay some eggs.
Through my workshops, I aim to impart the art of storytelling, the nuanced dynamics of wedding photography and to empower attendees to capture heartfelt moments.
Karl Ludik
Food & Wedding Photography
Karl is a five time BFOP vet and the ex-Olympus Professional Photography Manager, a tragic golfer, always-injured long distance runner, keen chef and consumer of whatever he plates up for the camera. His many online courses have been consumed by hundreds of Olympus devotees and, in his new role as content creator and National Trainer for Groupe SEB, the world’s largest cookware and home care company, he is able to combine his two passions, food and photography, in his workday. He loves sharing stories, food and experiences.
Adrian Whear
Street Photography
My name is Adrian Whear (FAPS) from Melbourne, Australia with a strong interest in the street and documentary genre. I am not a street photographer that has studied the works of the renown pioneers of the genre, nor have I completed a photography qualification. Simply I am mostly a self-taught amateur photographer. First and foremost, I just love walking the streets and alleys of my hometown Melbourne and its inner suburbs. If I happen to get some reasonable frames during these walks, then all the better. As a street photographer my ultimate aim is to capture an ordinary everyday scene but to show it in an extraordinary way. Finalist: 2019 Aussie street. People’s choice award – Shot in the Heart of Melbourne exhibition, 3rd Place – Snapped photography compettiion, City of Melbourne, Exhibited photo – In the Shadows, Victorian Archives; FIAP and PSA gold medalist. Australian Association of Street Photographers (AASPI) – committee member.

Jess Shepherd
Outdoor portrait photographer
I would consider my style to be dreamy, a healing experience, realistic, full of love and laughter, highlighting womens empowerment, highlighting self love, sometimes whimsical, sometimes raw & bohemian.
I am inspired by what it means to be woman. What it means to be human. What it means to be connected with a higher power than myself. I am inspired by love, emotions of all kinds, releasing and acknowledging past hardships and present. I am inspired by the little things, the minor details. By nature, and all its perfect imperfections. Relating nature with us as people, seeing the energies that flow between us all. I am inspired by travel photographers, telling stories. Im inspired by what it truly means to be in the present moment. Challenging my beliefs.
Charlie Brown

Adam Dyson
Waterfall & Landscape Photographer
Hi i’m Adam, A Melbourne, Victoria based photographer and content creator. I have a passion for landscape and long exposure photography. I love nothing more than escaping the major cities and finding beautiful images.
After completing a Bachelor of Film production in 2012 I found shooting single still images very rewarding and somewhat more exciting over shooting moving pictures. I use a combination of traditional in-camera techniques and advanced post processing to create realistic yet surreal images. Every image I take I am trying to show the world through my eyes, bright colours, glassy water and beautiful light. 🙂

Christopher Hopkins
Photojournalist
Christopher Hopkins is a freelance visual journalist from Australia.
Born and raised in rural Victoria, Australia, Chris travelled extensively internationally for six years before embarking on a photographic career. After graduating from college in 2010, Chris’ creative and intuitive eye saw him hired by Australia’s largest mastheads, The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald.
In 2012 he documented the lives of second-generation Agent Orange victims in Vietnam and was awarded the Walkley slideshow prize. Covering this story would lead to a deeper sense of purpose for his photography. He has since gone on to cover humanitarian issues globally with the intent to bring human rights issues to the forefront of public awareness.
Chris aims to open a dialogue into the issue he is documenting. His imagery seeks to ask questions of the audience whilst providing an empathetic connection to the subject. Highly active in the mental health space, much of his project work examines the relationship between those living with mental health issues and their environment, exploring how systemic and societal custom inform our perceptions of these marginalised groups.
Chris’ work features in publications including The New York Times, The Guardian, Al Jazeera, The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Jakarta Globe, The Irish Times, and for UNHCR and Amnesty International.
Chris is a two-time Walkley winner (2018 – Photographic Essay, 2020 – Photo of the Year) and in 2021 was awarded 2nd Place by Pictures of the Year International (POYi) in the Daily Life category.

Emily Black
Portrait, family and landscape photography
Emily is an optimist, unashamed hugger and believes life is too short for bad coffee.
She’s a lover of the outdoors, nature and camping, a retired rock-climber and now ultra-marathon endurance trail runner; which she will happily talk about for hours if you give her half a chance.
She’s a pretty terrible cook, (her mother would be turning in her grave) but is pretty creative in getting around her flaws in the kitchen, and is currently compiling her masterpiece “Fake It ’til You Bake It”, a cookbook for people who hate cooking.
There’s almost nothing Emily hasn’t photographed throughout her 25 years in the industry, beginning her career in newspapers, experiencing the grit and stench of film, darkrooms and photojournalism through to the transition into digital and instant uploads.
Nowadays she runs her own business which has her job satisfaction at an all time high, photographing families, landscapes, nature and commercial jobs, with the philosophy of alignment and connection to her subject at the core of all her work; even if that is connecting with a piece of cake.
Glynn Lavender
Portraiture & Travel
Glynn Lavender is, without a doubt, the greatest photographer in the world with the name Glynn Lavender.
The fact that he is the only person in the world with that name is irrelevant.
Glynn is also a global ambassador for Tamron Lenses.
Glynn is an available light portrait shooter. He’ll use any light available if it creates the look he’s after.
Glynn loves sharing his passion for people photography and Dad jokes. Unfortunately, they are a package deal so you can’t get one without the other.
Glynn runs international photo tours to places like India, Bangladesh, Myanmar and more as well as running day long lighting workshops around Australia and the USA.
There is only one thing Glynn loves talking about more than photography, and that thing is himself so strap yourself in for a workshop or two or sit down and listen to him ramble on about travel portraits and himself.
Joel Alston
Wedding Photographer
Hey, I’m Joel, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have immersed myself in photography, capturing the love stories of couples for a fantastic nine years. Honestly, it’s hard to believe I get to do this for a living—it’s a dream come true!
What makes me different? Well, I’ve always been drawn to breaking away from the ordinary. Weddings, to me, should be portrayed in a way that goes beyond the typical, clichéd shots. I want each image to truly reflect the uniqueness of every couple, steering clear of any overused wedding photo cliches. After all, every relationship is special, so their photographs should be too.
My true passion lies in candid and documentary-style photography for weddings. There’s something enchanting about capturing raw, unscripted moments—just people being themselves. Those genuine emotions and interactions are what truly touches my heart.
When I’m not busy behind the camera capturing connections, you’ll likely find me enjoying some action-packed pursuits. From scaling stunning cliffs during rock climbing adventures to riding my Honda Goldwing, and yeah, I might have a penchant for impulsive, meaningful tattoos that represent my adventurous spirit.
But above all, the moments I cherish the most are the ones spent with my amazing son. Creating memories together is just as precious to me as the photographs I take for others. Family always comes first in my book!
Adam Edwards
Landscape & Nature
Adam, an eager landscape, and nature photographer, finds his true calling in the wide-open spaces of the outback. Living amidst its raw beauty has given him a profound appreciation for the rugged charm that few get to experience firsthand.
With two decades of photography experience under his belt, Adam has explored various genres, immersing himself in every aspect of the art. But what truly sets his soul on fire is sharing his knowledge and experience with fellow photographers. From hands-on workshops to captivating camera club presentations, and even chance encounters in the wilderness, Adam thrives on building personal connections within the community, fuelling collective passion.
Jo Howell
Pet Photographer
Jo has lived and worked on four continents and accumulated a wealth of visual, emotional and life-defining experiences which have all combined to create a fresh, vibrant and refreshingly natural look to her photography. Jo’s images have won multiple awards and have been featured internationally. She loves wildlife and the beauty of nature and light, she has a great eye for composition and colour and her fabulous (and sometimes outrageous) personality helps put you at ease and ensures you will have a great experience
Jeff Freestone
Landscape and Nature Photographer
Based in Omeo, my family and I moved up to the High Country from Melbourne back in 2017 seeking a quieter life away from the stress and noise of the city. From the moment we arrived I have been in complete awe of this stunning region and have spent the entire time immersed in the landscape with my camera looking for ways to capture its unique beauty.
Like most landscape and nature photographer’s I initially began photographing wide sweeping scenes trying to capture its vastness however I soon found myself gravitating towards a more intimate style of work that felt more rewarding personally and also helped me tell a much deeper story.
Dani Webb
Photography Educator
Dani Webb is passionate about photography and a bit of a gear geek. She is also a proud business owner with Camera House. As part of her role with Camera House, she teaches workshops and classes for her customers.

Having worked as a professional photographer for many years, she has experience shooting almost all styles of photography from weddings to products to macro, and everything in between.
Her love of shooting wildlife and being in remote places has evolved over the years and she has become an accomplished ‘bird nerd’ – capturing some amazing images of birds in all shapes and sizes.
If you have questions about your gear or settings – just ask Dani…
Jesse Hisco
Wedding, Portrait, People
Most people would call me a photographer. Although I think of myself as more of an explorer, an observer, a hype man, and an archivist for moments of goodness, meaning and purpose (But yeah, I’m also a photographer.) Photography has taught me to see the world without a camera. To slow down, pay attention to detail, and be present – I use this gift to capture the most meaningful experiences in life.

Michael Marlborough
Fine art Nude
Meet Michael Marlborough, the maestro of fine art nude photography. For over 30 years, he’s been delighting viewers with his work in the Fine Art Nude genre. Think of him as the Michelangelo of modern-day birthday suits.
In his early days, Marlborough was the king of natural light, capturing perfect, glowing moments outdoors. But ten years ago, he decided he’d had enough of unpredictable weather and pesky bugs. He moved into the studio, where he could play mad scientist with light and shadows. Now, his studio is his playground, and he’s the master of his lighting domain, creating magic without ever needing sunscreen.
By day, Marlborough transforms into the “printer whisperer” at Kayell Australia. He’s the go-to guy for taming wide format printers, solving colour management mysteries, and rescuing clients from printer-induced meltdowns. Got a printer problem? Marlborough’s got the answer – and probably a funny story to go with it.
Marlborough’s double life as an artist and technical guru makes him a rare breed. His stunning photography leaves people in awe, while his tech wizardry ensures everyone else can print their masterpieces without tearing their hair out.
